Lumenstack Beginner's Guide - How to Get Started
New to Lumenstack? This guide covers what the game is and how your first stacks play out, based on runs that went from a miss at 0 up to a Best of 73.
What is Lumenstack?
Lumenstack is a free Pixelsprout original that runs in the browser with no download. It uses a portrait canvas about 300 by 400 pixels embedded on the page, not a Gamepix iframe. A glowing block slides left and right near the top; you drop it onto the stack, and only the overlapping width remains. Miss completely and the stack falls. The vibe is minimal: dark navy and teal with glowing neon blocks, and runs are short and punishing. Score sits top left, Best N top right.
First steps
- Read the start screen: LUMENSTACK, Time the drop. Stack the light., then Tap or press Space to start.
- Watch the glowing block bounce left and right near the top of the canvas.
- Press Space or click the canvas when the block overlaps the stack as much as you can.
- If it lands, the width shrinks to the overlap and a new colored block starts sliding.
- If you miss with no overlap, Stack fell appears with your score in cyan and Best N, then Tap to retry.
- Chase a higher Best. Mine moved from 8 to 26 to 73 across the session.
Who it's for
It suits players who like one-button timing games with short retries. Runs end fast on a miss, so it is twitchy rather than slow and planned.
Your first few drops
Early drops use a wider stack, so timing is more forgiving. Colors I saw for new blocks in order were green, lime, yellow, orange, pink, and cyan. Sliding speed stayed roughly steady and bounced left and right; across five drops in my 73 run I saw no speed change.
Points per drop are not spelled out in the UI. On the 73 run the score climbed 23, then 43, 58, 67, and 73, with each drop adding less than the one before. Treat that as what I observed, not a confirmed formula.
When the stack falls
No overlap ends the run immediately. You get Stack fell, the score in cyan, Best N, and Tap to retry. Space, a canvas click, or the page tap wording all restart. On my highest run the retry text overlapped the fallen stack drawing until I restarted.
