Moonbloom Beginner's Guide - How to Get Started
New to Moonbloom? This guide covers what the game is and how your first evening plays out, based on a session where I cleared First dew and moved on to Second leaf.
What is Moonbloom?
Moonbloom is a free Pixelsprout original puzzle game that runs in the browser with no download. You drop round seeds into a night planter that is 6 columns wide and 7 rows tall. Three or more of the same plant touching by an edge grow into the next form, and chains score more. The header shows your score with your best under it, the evening name with a progress bar, the now and next seeds, and help and music buttons. The page says to clear five evenings, then keep going for a high score.
First steps
- Press Play on the start card. The five small dots on it stand for the evenings, with the first one lit.
- Move to a column with the mouse or keys and check where the ghost circle lands.
- Drop three matching gold seeds so they touch by an edge. They grow into a green sprout and you get your first points.
- Keep an eye on the next icon and build groups that can set off chains.
- When the progress bar fills, The evening held card shows your score. Press Next evening to start the next one.
Who it's for
It suits players who like calm match-three and merge puzzles where you can stop and think. There is no timer that I saw, so it is relaxed rather than twitchy.
What happens when an evening ends
After I reached 270 points in First dew, a card titled The evening held said You reached 270 in First dew. It had two buttons, Next evening and Garden gate. Next evening loaded Second leaf with the score back at 0, while best 270 stayed in the header.
I did not press Garden gate, so I cannot say where it leads. I also did not lose a run, so I have not seen what a failed evening looks like.
